Does anyone know if a movie is planned based on the Dragonriders of Pern by Ann McCaffrey?”
Copperheart Entertainment, an Oscar-winning Canadian film production company, has bought the options for the movie. Anne McCaffrey apparently chose them because she believes they will bring the story to life on the big screen in a way that will do justice to the books (and yes, I do agree that Pern is one of the best series out there – I’ve been reading them for probably 20 of my 30 years). There don’t seem to be any details yet on who will play what parts, or even which book(s) will be included. In my opinion, they’d be smart to do something along the lines of Lord of The Rings & sign a cast to do an entire series of movies. Various websites say that the movie is due out this year, but given what little seems to have actually been planned so far, I would expect a later release date.
