I no that moth balls work very well for skunks, so maybe that might work for racoons.

I had a problem with skunks. A hunter friend of mine suggested going to a outdoorsmans shop or hunting shop and ask for “Red Fox Urine”. Aparrently the red fox is a natural predator of skunks, racoons, and such. Just follow the directions on the bottle. It worked for the skunks under my shed.
