Hi Holly I have slate beside the oven and my wife treats it with “Slate Dressing”, it seems to be like thin oil which brings out the lustre of the stone. I was thinking it would be worth trying this it might not take the grout off but if you leave it on overnight it might soften it enough to be gently scraped off using one of those scrapers with the changeable blades, good luck.
