Does anyone know how to fix an ipod stuck on hold?
What probably happened is that the connector to the hold switch assembly may have come loose/off from the motherboard. But a hit hard enough to split the case doesn’t bode well for its future, although you can never tell. On the other hand, the drive still worked. When you dropped it, was the unit off — if so the heads may have been parked and protected the drive from damage. It may be possible that you just didn’t reassemble it properly, and someone who knows how they go together might be able to fix it for you. On the other hand, it might be a good excuse to treat yourself to a new one!
