Does anyone know how to change .AVI files to something that would play on a normal DVD?
Your DVD player requires VOB files, but that’s not the sole answer. It also requires IFO files to instruct the player how to navigate the various files in which order, not to mention menus, if you have them. On top of that, it looks for a very specific directory structure to find those files. Nero is one software, and there are others, that will transcode your AVI files into the proper format for burning on your DVD for playback in a standalone player. Nero gives you the option of burning a Data disc, which is just the simple transfer of any file from your computer onto the disc, or to burn a Video disc which is the transcoding of files to work on DVD players.
