Does anyone know how to become a bail bondsman??
Qualifications to run a bail bonding business would be handled through your local Sheriffs Department along with your particular State regulations which can be attained by contacting your Secretary of States Office. Most Counties require that you place in escrow a certain amount of cash or liquid asstes with the county or Sheriffs office because you are GUARANTEEING that the criminal will show up for court. It is a very risky business and not to be taken lightly. Lets say someone is arrested and the bail is set for $10,000 they pay you 10% or $1,000 to get out of jail. You in turn guarantee to the court that they will show up for court. If they don’t show you have to pay the $10,000. 99% of the accused show up, but all it takes is one $100,000 jumped bail and your broke.
