Does anyone know how many ATP points Djokovic will earn for winning the Pacific Life Open?
There’s is no way for Djokovic to overtake Federer unless Federer loses early in French Open and/or Wimbledon. The difference right now between Djoko and the Fed is 1270 ranking points. Djoko has to defend Miami, meaning that even if he wins the title, he stays even; while Fed just has to get past the 4th round to increase his 1270 point lead even further. Although Fed has to defend a few finals in clay season, he also went out early in Rome (?); remember Volandri, anyone? So he can even things out. Djoko made it to FO semis, so he can’t make much of a gain there. Plus, he loses Estoril. Federer can always throw in a smaller tournament in his schedule to up his totals. Rolling into the grass court season, Fed can also make up points at Halle (which he missed last year) if he so chooses. So, if Fed does not go out in early rounds in French and/or Wimbeldon with Novak winning them, there is no way for Djoko to catch him.
