Does anyone know how heat resistant DAS modelling clay is?
I’m sorry, but I really doubt that will work out. Polymers, air-dry clays and other modeling clays are usually clearly marked, “for decorative use only,” “not food safe” and “not for making candle holders” because they shouldn’t go in your mouth or near flame. If you’re going to put the work into making it, you should probably try to get your hands on some “real clay,” and see if there might be a ceramics shop in your area where they are willing to fire it for you when you’re done. By this, I mean the type of little shop where people go pick out a pre-made ceramic peice, glaze it right there, and the shop fires it. If you ask the owner (nicely), they’ll often be willing to fire your handmade piece for a few dollars. Some art supply stores like Micheals sell small quantities of kiln-firable clay alongside the polymers and air-dry clays if you read all the packages, or you may find some clays online. Best to locate a shop that’s willing to fire your work first, and ask what “cone” they f
