Does anyone know exactly how to care for Golden Pheasants?
Golden pheasants require the same things as any other pheasant. They will eat grasses and legumes, bugs any type of row crows such as wheat and grains. Game bird feed is good to feed them because it contains everything the bird needs. Pheasants are highly excitable and fliers. So they need to be kept in a covered coop, aviary or cage. It is also best to clip their wings if these birds are viewed as a pet. Pheasants do not like shelters and prefer to be exposed to the elements, still it is good to have a few perches with a cover over them. But remember these are very excitable birds and the cover shouldn’t make a great deal of noise when hit by rain or hail. Also pheasants in some ways are like chickens, the male pheasant (rooster) can be aggressive, he has spurs and is not afraid to use them. Unlike chickens pheasants do not make good pets, they are not easily tamed and are always high strung. They are more for ornamental purposes.
