Does anyone know anything about Oedipus character in Oedipus the King?
Oedipus is probably the best example of an Aristotelian tragic hero, at least as we usually paraphrase the definition–a good, noble man, with tha tragic flaw that usually takes the form of excessive pride (hubris). We fist see him as a concerned, caring, proactive leader. Even before his people come to him to ask for help in edning the plague, he has sent Creon to consult the Delphis Oracle about it. Similarly, once Creon reports that the Oracle said that the city must find and punish the murderer of Laius, Oedipus sends for Teiresias before anyone suggests doing so. At this point we see another side of him emerge: his impulsive temper, which erupts if anyone gets in his way or denies him what he seeks. He Taunts Teiresias and shouts irrational accusations against both him and Creon when Teiresias refuses to tell him what he wants to know. In the last episode, he threatens the old servant with torture when the old man balks at telling him about the baby he gave to the man from Corinth
