Does anyone know any interesting facts about Romeo and Juliet?
‘Romeo and Juliet’ is one of Shakespeare’s tragedy plays. It was probably written between 1594-96, and is 3093 lines long. It has 5 Acts and has 12% prose and 88% verse. The play is set in Verona, and we see that the Montagues and the Capulets are involved in a huge family feud, however, we are never told why this feud began, it is just referred to as the ‘Ancient grudge’. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet-so it can be seen that their love is doomed from the beginning. They fall in love at first meeting, and after the famous balcony scene, they decide to get married in secret. After they are married in secret, the family feud still continues, and Romeo’s best friend Mercutio is killed by Tybalt (Juliet’s cousin). Romeo wants revenge and kills Tybalt in a fight, which leads to him being exiled. Meanwhile, Juliet is devastated to learn that her husband has killed her cousin, and is more distraught when she is informed she must marry a man named Paris, which she refuses to do. T
