Does anyone know any good books about chihuahua breeding?
Heck with the books, put a title on your girl, make sure she fits the breed standard, make sure all health checks are done – not just vaccinations, make sure she’s over the age of 2 years find a breed mentor, reserach bloodlines, save 5,000 for any emergencies and general care, then and only then look for a stud that the has had the same done to him.
I hope your purpose to breed your chihuahua is not for money! Because I don’t see what other reason you would have for forcing your dog into this. Chihuahua’s have a very difficult time giving birth and usually have to have the baby(ies) delivered via c-section (surgery) as they have a difficult time giving birth. So I hope you are prepared to spend on vet bills for checkups and the expensive delivery of the babies as that would be the humane thing to do or else you could possibly lose all puppies and the mother. I see no reason for you to breed your chihuahua as the pet population is staggering and I don’t know why you would want to contibute to that especially knowing it could be harmful to the precious life of your dog. Also, by not getting your pet fixed, every source of information will tell you that it increases your dogs risk of ovarian and mammary cancer. I would never risk my dog’s lives like this because I care more for them than that. If you still selfishly want to put your
