Does anyone know any fun volleyball exercises/drills for beginners?
1) Pit Drill – One person is in the center of one side of the court. The other volleyball players are in a circle around her so they can shag balls. The player in the center has plenty of room to move around. The coach throws the volleyballs to almost ridiculous places (like throwing a ball at the right side of the court and then immediately afterward throwing one to the left side of the court; don’t make it too ridiculous). Change up where you throw the balls every time. This drill is to get them to run and dive for the balls. 2) Butterfly Drill (I will explain this at a perspective of looking at a court from above at one angle; I will say how many people should be at each portion of the court, but you can alter it to however many players you have on your team): Three players (each with a ball) are in line towards the net on the left side of the upper court.
