A lot of popular sheet music has guitar chord symbols. if you learn to read those, and how chords are built, you could get by with the way you want to approach things. Otherwise, there are ‘fake books’ which are only the melody in the treble clef, usually only older standards, and with no bass or chord symbols. These take more musicianship and theoretical understanding than I think you have at the moment. Get the normal sheet music is my advice. Learn to read the chord symbols, and in small doses, continue to learn to read the bass. If you learned the treble you can learn the bass; it is not rocket science. Almost every piano player learns to read bass and treble. p.b.
