Does anyone kinda feel sorry for Robert Thompson?
I’m going to be incredibly unpopular for saying this, but in a way yes I do. Thompson was said to have made a lot of progress in rehabilitation and got the same treatment as Venables. They were both released at the same time under the same strict life licenses. Turns out the rehabilitation did not work for Venables, he was already far too damaged, but as far as we know it worked for Thompson. People who knew him in rehabilitation said that he left the unit as a stable young man. It has been said he is in a relationship and his partner knows of his past. He was probably just getting on with his new life, and then the whole case starts up again thanks to Venables. I bet he curses him. I believe and hope that Thompson has changed. To conclude, yes I in a way, feel somewhat sorry for him.
