There are Wiccans who believe that the phase of the moon has a great deal to do with what magick is appropriate to do at any given time. This is based on the principle of “like attracts like.” While the moon is waxing (getting bigger), these are the times to do works related to increasing, fertility, and the like, because the moon is supposed to exert that kind of power over the spell. When the moon is waning (getting smaller), that is the time to do things related to banishing, releasing, and getting-rid-of. Then, there are Wiccans who don’t use this as a guide, and things work well for them, too. They believe that any magickal tool is just that – a tool. It is something that can help you, can provide a focus for the work, and help you “suspend disbelief” enough for you to do what you need to do.
