To me, there is a point when you must honor yourself. There is no point in being a martyr for your wedding vows. If my husband cheated or beat me, all bets would be off, because in my mind, he made that same vow to me, and if he were to throw his vows in the trash, all bets are off.

My husband and I changed our vows. We both said, “May God deal with me be it ever so severely if anything but death parts us.” So for us, there is no “worse” that would justify us breaking that vow we made to each other. Even infidelity or abuse…we committed to each other to work through whatever life throws our way. That doesn’t mean I would live with him and be a punching bag but it means that we vowed no divorce for any reason.
