Hi! There have been reports on the web of people bundling spyware with WPE Pro, but it’s hard to evaluate the credibility. Best thing, download it directly from WPE’s site. It does use RapidShare, but you do not need an account to download-just choose the free option. As for the rumors, just my speculation, but I think these arise because WPE Pro itself will be tagged as spyware by security software–not because it does anything bad, but because it is a packet sniffer. Trojans are packet sniffers, so spyware detectors label anything that sniffs packets as a dangerous program. Still, this could make it difficult for a less experienced user to determine whether the problem was being caused by the spyware misidentifying WPE Pro, or an actual infection. In any case, deal only with the WPE Pro site, and you should be fine. And remember that your spyware and virus detectors will send out a false positive if they catch WPE. Happy sniffing! Sources:
