What I can say is, Singapore is a very safe country to live in compared to other countries. Singapore have no natural disasters… in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, earthquakes, typhoons are so common. Although people do learn to live with it, I really don’t want to live in fear almost everyday. And because Singapore’s government is strict, people here cannot purchase guns and weapons, therefore school shootings (like those that happened in USA) are very unlikely to happen in Singapore. Why many people choose to stay in Singapore rather than other parts of Asia is because of the education system in Singapore is better than most countries. Asians themselves choose to study in Singapore as well. As for the duty-free, it is because taxes on alcohol and tabacco are very high in Singapore. This is to actually discourage Singapoeans from smoking and drinking too much so generally, these items are very expensive compared to other countries.
