Does anyone have the connection chedule for making my own programming cable, as I have the type that doesn have the extra RS232 port?
“J-Series”, “E-Series”, “EB-Series” (Except -xxCRP), and the “EM” processors (CPM-E and CPM-E2) do not have an on-board serial port. Simplying adding a cable will not provide successful communications. A “Serial Protocol Converter” is required. At first, this was accomplished with a special add-on unit called “PIF-J”. This part is no longer available. The only current option is with the use of the “Universal Programmer” – part number PGM-JR2. The PGM-JR2 works as a conventional “hand-held programmer”, but with the flip of a (DIP) switch, converts into a Serial Protocol Converter. This allows any Hitachi PLC that will accept the PGM-JR2 to cable (DB25) to a personal computer (DB9). With the appropriate software (like ActSip-E), Ladder Programming (LD) can be accomlished. (The hand-held programmers program in “Instruction Set” (IS) – (like Boolean)). There is a cable (ActCab-PGMJR2) that connects the (DB9) personal computer COM port to the (DB25) connector (Serial Port) of the PGM-JR2. I
