Does anyone have experience in setting up fax line over VOIP?

I’m trying to setup a fax over VOIP to send and receive faxes from India to US. I just heard of even a little packet loss will result into fax page transmission errors and VOIP settings. If anyone here experienced in this kind of setup already and willing to share their experience and thoughts are welcome.
