Does anyone have any tricks concerning Show Cattle?
I’m not sure what kind of tricks your looking for, but there are several. Feed and water right before entering the show ring. If they won’t drink add sprite soda to there water. It makes it taste sweeter. This gives the look of fullness. After you get them fit for the show, spray them down with pink oil before entering the show ring. You only need about 2 foot of lead on your show halter, cut it off!! If the chain on your show halter is rusty, wrap it with black vet wrap. (we wrap all of ours anyway.) Stand an arm length away from your calf in the ring. When you stand right next to their head with your arm bent, it makes you look nervous. So stand back and look proud of what you are exhibiting. When the judge can’t make a final decision between 2 calves the way you present yourself and your calf could make all the difference. Don’t clip the ears!! If showing steers, clamp your calves, don’t band them. This gives them a little sack down there and helps fill in a bare area. Grain them ex
