Does anyone have any information to share about the strength of the music program at Kenyon?

I am a sophomore music major and I can tell you that Kenyon definitely has many opportunities for non-music majors. While the strength of the music program is definitely in the choral/vocal tradition, there are many groups for instrumentalists as well. I play in the Wind Ensemble and of the 50 or so people only about 5 or so are actual music majors and even then most are double majors. The same thing applies to the Knox County Symphony which is also has a number of faculty and community members. There are also smaller groups such as Chamber Winds, Early Music, Sundanese Gamelan, String Quartet…etc. As long as you can find about 5 people or so any type of group is possible. The facilities are amazing also. Many students also continue their lessons as well. The new part of the music building was built in 1999 and has many rehearsal rooms; I have never had trouble getting a practice room. I cannot say enough good things about the music dept.
