Does anyone have any information or resources about bipolar meds and bfing?
As bipolar disorder is actually a spectrum of disorders, there are many medication combinations commonly prescribed. In general you can expect to be prescribed an anti-psychotic medication, an anti-depressant medication, and an anti-anxiety medication. At this point, the process of finding the correct combo is basically trial & error and can take months or even years. If you have a family member being treated successfully for similar symptoms, your doctor will generally use the medications they are taking as a starting point. Lithium is still the first choice for bipolar I patients as it is very effective & very cheap, but a little inconvient due to regular blood tests to assure that the medication is kept at a theurapuetic, not toxic, level.
