Does anyone have any information on Fort Wainwright and Fairbanks, Alaska?
Fort Wainwright has a lot of new housing and nice facilities. Fairbanks is very friendly to the military. For a person who is able to get down and get organized, there is a lot to do and to take advantage of in Fairbanks. Lots of arts, entertainment, organizations, classes, sports, activities, events, even if they are not the kind that you are used to. If you are not used to the northern climate, the key to having fun is to dress for the weather, so that you can enjoy some of the winter activities. Warm hat, good mittens, warm insulated coat that covers your butt, warm boots. Even snow pants if you are outside for a long time. People who whine about the weather usually are more worried about “hat hair” than they are keeping their ears warm. You’ll see people walking around in hoodies at 20 below zero. That isn’t anything you want to copy. Frostbite hurts. Since you are new to Fairbanks, try everything and take advantage of what Fairbanks has to offer. You’ll have some great stories to
