If you can purchase stuff, there are covered ottomans and benches with lids that open that can be placed near or at the foot of the bed. There’re lots of these on the market at various price points and they’re already designed to be multi-purpose and fit in many decors. Finally, you might just also google furniture for dorm rooms; there’re really alot of low-cost smaller dressers that could work for you. Alternatively, you could also wait until end of a school year and drive through any local college campuses when college kids and their rents prefer to *toss* stuff, rather than trek home.
