Does anyone have any good tips for making moving easier?
My dad was transferred, a lot, when I was growing up. Then, as an adult, I’ve moved several times. Moving is a PITA (pain in the …) no matter what distance. I almost think doing it on your own is the worst! I’m going to list the things I’ve learned to do over the years. I hope they help. • Take this as an opportunity to clear out the junk! You don’t want to move things and then throw them away at the new house, right? Donate or throw away, immediately!! Do not put this off or you will wind up moving them again. • If possible, have the power, water – all utilities turned on BEFORE you move in. Much easier to deal with! If not, try not to transport a lot of cold foods, it’s much easier to allow a budget for grocery shopping then trying to keep things on ice. Use up what is in your fridge the weeks before you move. • Make a box of essentials for the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and if you have an office.
