Does anyone have any advice/tips on becoming a vegan?
I have been a vegan for 8 years, and every time I go to the doctor’s for a checkup, they are amazed at how healthy I am (I don’t tell them that I’m vegan, for fear that they’ll scold me). So I would recommend that you do go vegan. If you do it correctly, it is extremely healthy. My first tip is to do some research. Understand exactly why you want to do it before you make the plunge. And make sure you know what you’re going to eat. Get some vegan cook books. I’d recommend “How it All Vegan” and “In the Garden of Vegan” by Sarah Kramer and Tanya Barnard. Most of the recipes in these books are quick and easy to make. I would also recommend taking a multivitamin, or at least make sure you’re drinking fortified drinks and eating fortified foods (like cereal and nutrition bars). Being a vegan is easy and fun once you get the hang of it. I am constantly discovering new foods and recipes. My biggest tip would be to be proud of yourself.
