Does anyone have any advice about travelling a horse that goes mad in the trailer?

Try working him before loading him, maybe lunge him for 20 mins or so before you put him in the box, make sure the box has plenty of air circulation, in your trailer open the top doors front and back and take him on regular ‘practice’ trips, unload him, walk him around, let him munch the grass, take him to the beach etc so that he associates travel as not just work. It could be that every time you box him it is creating a build up of nervous anticipatiion causing his behaviour so if you take him on short trips that he can associate with not having pressure added to them then it will pave the way for future relaxed journeys, start just going a few miles, take him to a place you ride regularly so he is on familiar ground, do this a couple of times a week and gradually increase the distance.
