You bet we did – because that’s where I worked all through high school. I was an old-fashioned soda jerk essentially. The place was a family-owned and run shop that served hard-scoop ice cream that was made right there on the premesis, as was the hot fudge – yummmmm! The decor was set up to be like an old-fashioned soda fountain with stools and a curving bar counter. We served old-fashioned sodas, Boston Coolers, banana splits in glass boats, floats, sundaes, malts, shakes – you name it! I worked there for 4 years total (coming back during college summers as a manager). And I took a lot of pride in the concoctions I made. I could make a soda or sundae that looked like it was from a magazine photo shoot – and tastes just as good! One of my secrets is that I was taught to make everything by the semi-retired owner himself (which was a big deal, he didn’t show everybody his old-fashioned tricks). To this day it’s hard to go to a standard ice cream shop and see them butcher sundaes the way
