Does anyone have a shaggy dog story?
apparently this is a form of joke where you build up a lot of tension for a punchline and then it sort of just ends abruptly. So the example goes something like this On time there was a dog of considerable shagginess, many people noted that the dog’s fur was indeed so shaggy its shed hairs could be used as shag carpeting and one time the boy who owned this dog, who I am sure would attest to its shagginess entered the shaggy dog into a competition with other shaggy dogs and one of the criteria on which it won a blue ribbon was how shaggy it was. Then one day the family of this dog had a second child and the dog bit it and the family decided to put it up for adoption because the shaggy dog is as the shaggy dog does. A group of children came to the humane society the following day and noting the dog’s great shagginess decided to adopt him as their own shaggy dog and everyone thought “wow what a shaggy dog.” it doesn’t have to be about a shaggy dog but you get the idea.
