Does anyone have a national rail staff travel card?
If you are rail staff or a spouse or dependent with access to discounted/free rail travel as a consequence of working on the railway, you will have certain travel facilities as a perk of your employment. However, it is not sufficient to just have the various passes and privileges as these must be backed up with photo ID. In this case, this should be a Rail Staff Travel Identity Card. Looking at the terms set out on the back of all the passes I hold as a member of rail staff it clearly says that these passes are only valid when produced with an appropriate identity card (irrespective of the destination). However, it does go on to state that this provision does not apply if the holder of the pass is under 16 years of age.
