Does anyone have a good site that compares Katherine Howard to Katherine Parr?
You’ll have to read up about them – I’ve given you some sites. Some points to consider are that Katherine Howard was a teenager when she married Henry, and had lacked a good upbringing. She was also hardly able to write, and would today be considered a bit of an “airhead”. Katherine Parr had already been widowed twice and was a more mature, older lady at the time of her marriage to the King, and was intelligent and educated. Whereas Henry was obsessed with the first Katherine and called her his “rose without a thorn”, she was young and silly enough to be unfaithful to him; Henry had thought she was untouched and was devastated when it was brought to his attention. There could be no accusation against Katherine Parr of not being a virgin when she married the King, as she had obviously known her previous husbands. The first Katherine lost her head for her adultery; the second Katherine, although she did have a very hairy moment when she argued with the King and was able to avert disaster
