Sure! I never use either of those ingredients. Mine are typically tomato based chili as follows: Kidney beans, ground beef, chopped onions, chili powder, whole cayanne peppers, and tomato juice or V-8 (the spicy V-8 is good as well). Brown up the beef first and drain the grease off. Put everything in the crockpot in the proportions you want. You can add or take whatever you want from this to suit your own tastes. I generally make this up in a BIG kettle on the stove…and all day thing as it cooks down. I just keep adding more tomato juice in the process, and it gets thicker naturally. You can use canned kidney beans (or whatever beans you like), as they cook up MUCH faster than dry beans (which is why mine usually takes so long to cook) and use tomato paste to thicken it faster. I would suggest this for the crockpot. My wife doesn’t like beans in her chili, unfortunately I don’t have her reciepe. It’s an all beef chili. And you can substitute ground turkey for the beef, but it doesn’t
