Does anyone have a child in the Kumon English or Maths programme?

My child was in the maths scheme for a while until we moved away. She loved it. First of all, the teacher will come and see you and test your child’s level – all done very gently and in a way which is good fun. You are then given the first week’s booklets. The idea is that your child does one booklet a night as fast as possible. They start off being very easy for the child and gradually get harder. Once a week they attend the Kumon Centre for a bit of individual help and guidance. I can’t remember how much it cost – I think it was about £50 every six or seven weeks but might have been less. The one thing to remember is it is not a quick fix programme. A child has to be doing it for about a year before you see any benefit but it does encourage the brain to work faster and more accurately and it definately benefitted my child. Best thing to do is have a chat with the local Kumon maths teacher. Hope this helped.
