Does anyone give their 1+ year old soy milk instead of cows milk?
Our pediatrician said that Soy is just fine, and suggested we use 8th Continent or Silk, which are the most popular brands. You may also want to look for one that is fortified with calcium, since regular soy milk doesn’t contain much, and growing bones need calcium. The only thing “bad” she said about it was that it’s more expensive than cow’s milk. (About double the price where I live.) Most people believe that there is a downside, such as less nutritional value. I don’t believe that. I have a few pages bookmarked in my browser and I’ll copy-paste the nutritional stuff for you. The reality of it is that soy milk is better for you than cow’s milk. It contains good fats, lowers cholesterol, and helps reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men by about 70%. RIBOFLAVIN Soy milk contains about 60% less riboflavin than cow’s milk. Riboflavin is an important vitamin, but it is also found in great abundance in seeds, nutritional yeast, green leafy vegetables, nuts, legumes, and whole grains. T
