Does anyone get really severe PMS?
I have something called PMDD — premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It’s a very debilitating form of PMS, it’s essentially PMS times a million. I was suicidal every month for a very long time, it was a nightmare. PMDD does ruin lives. Before the PMDD came about, I had a very severe case of PPD (postpartum depression) after my now almost 5 year old was born. I was on many medications for the PPD, but once the PMDD struck, NONE of the meds helped me whatsoever. I started Yaz (the birth control pill) that was FDA approved to treat women with severe PMDD, back in October. It has literally saved my life. I no longer take any other meds (no antidepressants). Once in a while there is a “breakthrough” PMDD episode here and there, but I’m no longer suicidal. Here is an article about my personal experience… http://www.heartbeatthemagazine.com/0918…
