The odds of running into AA when you hold KK, it’s roughly one in twenty at a full table, so it’s not that uncommon. However, the odds of running into a hand that you dominate but will give you lots of action (like QQ, JJ, TT, AK) are much greater. Thus, you’d have to be very sure that you were up against AA in order to lay down KK. The following applies only to no-limit holdem tournaments. Cash games are different, as are fixed-limit and pot-limit tourneys. If you have less than about 30 big blinds and are up against a single opponent, then it’s usually wrong to lay down KK. If you have more than 30 big blinds, and there two or more opponents who have you covered and have gone all in in front of you, OR if your single opponent has put in the fourth raise, then it is likely you are up against AA.
