I have twin, boy/girl 6 year olds. From the day my son was born everything would make him gag, yet his twin sister has almost no gag reflex. I couldn’t even try to give him medicine, it would just come back up. Even at a year and a half old he could only eat baby food that had absolutely nothing with texture in it and nothing that tasted bad, or else he would get sick everywhere because he didn’t know why his food had lumps in it. He pretty much lived on milk and applesauce. I remember the first time my mother decided to try and feed him creamed corn. I warned her, but she didn’t listen. She never made that mistake again. It gets better as they get older, but it’s still there and comes out in different ways. For a while, when ever he was forced to try a small bite of food he doesn’t want to eat, he would get upset and start to cry and gag some, before the food ever even hit his mouth.
