Does anyone else think that Midnight Sun is a bad idea on Stephanie Meyers part?
Not only do I think it’s a bad idea, but I think that it’s completely ripping the fans off. They’ve already gone out and spent money to buy Twilight, and now they’re being tricked into going out and spending money to buy what is essentially the same darned book again. If the writer was truly talented, she would have been able to get her entire message out in one book, and not have to re-write it. Now, they’re also coming out with a “special edition” of Eclipse, and now the fans (who’ve already spent money to buy Eclipse) will go out and spend more money to buy that. It’s insulting, and the fans are so caught up that they don’t even see how they’re being taken advantage of. The author and the publishers are making unbelievable amounts of money on this nonsense.
I agree. I’m not much of a fan to begin with, but I think part of the appeal of the books is not knowing what Edward thinks. I think readers kind of like to speculate for themselves what’s going on in his head. Besides, I think that if she is intent on writing a book from Edward’s POV, she should just continue on where Breaking Dawn leaves off. Readers already know what happens in Twilight and, while I can’t speak for anyone aside from myself, I think it’d be kind of boring to read the same book through a different view point (especially when part of the book’s plot is not knowing what Edward feels). If she wanted us to know what Edward was thinking, she should have written the book in third person.
