Does anyone else find the increase in the congestion charge supecious?
If everyone stopped going to the pub tomorrow, gave up smoking and starting using public transport then the countries economy would go into freefall. Then they’d have to think up some kind of new tax. Bringing back Window Tax would probably be good for a laugh – based on how many windows your house has. Then everyone can start bricking them up to evade it. How about a Computer Tax where everyone who has a PC pays (with discounts for Mac users) and anyone who has internet access pays £50 a year with £50 extra for broadband users and other add-ons for extra laptops, wi-fi, etc. etc. That would soon bring the money rolling in, and best of all, I could claim it will help lower child obesity by keeping children away from computers and get them to do excercise instead! Do you think anyone would swallow that story?
