Does anybody still really believe a politician from chicago is going to change things for the better ?
Being from IL, I can verify how crooked the politicians are in Chicago and throughout the state. Our previous governor is doing prison time and it appears the current governor Blagojevich will be doing the same; in fact. Blago claimed to be a reformer when he first ran for and won the governorship, but he has been just the opposite in practice. Obama speaks like a reformer, but whether he will act like one as president is unknown. It’s hard to believe he was the only virgin in the whorehouse that is Chicago politics. Many people I’ve spoken to think Obama will bring about positive change. A good number of them seem to have unrealistic beliefs and expectations, however. Two examples: I’ve heard that the rest of the world loves the US now, though it seems most of the Mideast, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, etc. didn’t get the memo. I’ve also heard our public schools will be vastly improved, though Obama wholeheartedly supports the teachers’ unions that bear responsibility for the schools’ dysf
