Does anybody know why the music is so much louder on a movie DVD than the dialog?
Everyone is right, depending on your particular situation. (Except maybe Robert P. Yes we have only 2 ears but it is our brain that interprets the information comming to our ears. Our brains interpret hundreds of “sound arrivals” to our ears all the time. This is why a mother can hear her child’s voice in a crowd calling for help. The 5,6 or 7 speakers are just designed to more accurately simulate how sound comes to us in real life.) Sorry Robert, not trying to pick on you, just one of the guys disagreeing. A well designed home theater system shouldn’t have that problem. First of all, is your speaker system matched? Is your center channel the correct center for the rest of your speakers? If so then has the system been balanced for your environment? Sometimes the accoustics in your room can throw off the audio and you may loose some of the sound, particularly from a certain channel or at certain frequencies. You must correct for this.
