Does anybody know where i could get a cheap reconditioned engine?
Sorry to disappoint you, but there’s no such thing. To recondition an engine properly and to be able to offer a worthwhile warranty costs parts and highly skilled labour. Cheap “reconditioned” engines are big on the “con” bit and the companies which do them are constantly playing cat and mouse with Trading Standards. Frequently they’re just playing games and use impressive looking adverts or websites to sell steam cleaned repainted engines with a few new looking exposed nuts and bolts, new filters (or just exterior cleaned). The warranties they offer are normally not worth the paper they’re written on due to the huge number of unreasonable conditions and clauses. If you’re really stuck for cash buy a complete engine with fitting included from a good breakers yard (i.e. not a tiny grotty backstreet one) but insist on having it demonstrated working as far as possible before it comes out of the donor vehicle, or find out what the problem is with your current engine and speak to a member o
