I own a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T. The Audi went over to synthetic for their turbo cars. I am not sure what is the recommendation for their V6 and V8 (non turbos). But no matter what, you SHOULD always use the synthetic oil. Audi engine have been known to fail from sludge build up. Go do Google search on “Audi sludge” and you can scare yourself. Basically many new engines (including Audi) get too hot for conventional oil. The oil evaporates (or boils or cooks) and becomes thick. At that point the oil become more like thick glue instead of slippery oil (think of what happens when cooking oil is left on frying pan to burn). It is a cheap insurance for your car. Engine rebuild can cost you somewhere between $4k to $8k (and the engine will never be the same). === As for the grade, it should be 5w30 if I’m not mistake. The last number (30) should be exactly what the manufacturer recommand (no higher and no lower). The first number (5w) should be equal or lower than what the manufacturer recommand.
