Does anybody know how much money a Roman Catholic Priest makes a year in the U.S.?
I don’t know how much he makes or any other leaders of the churches. They don’t need much money because everything they have is paid for by the congregation. I live in a town where we have a military academy run by Catholic Priests. These priests eat at the most expensive restaurant in town. Drink good whiskey and smoke the best cigars. They have been known to have a few “accidents” while driving back to the academy which is thoughtfully ignored by the local police.
How much do YOU make a year in the US? They make less than an elementary-school principal, but more than a file clerk. On the other hand, their lodgings are taken care of by the diocese which owns the rectories. And there’s no property taxes for them to pay. Nor do they require a lot of money for wardrobe expenditures. And they DO get invited to dinner at parishioners’ homes a lot. So there’s a few fewer expenses than the rest of us. To Diminati: Sweetie, I work in a Catholic parish. Believe me, our priest puts in more hours per week than the average Type A business executive. He’s up at 4:30AM and if he’s lucky he gets back to bed about 11:30PM. And that’s on those days when there’s no emergency. Like a doctor, he’s basically on-call 24/7. He gets ONE, not two, days off each week. And a 2-week vacation each year. He’s never taken more than one of those two weeks.
