Hey Craig, If by green building design you are thinking of the LEED rating system I think the only way they would be able to help is if they were made of recyclable materials. Ive included a link to an explanation of recycled content and how it relates to the LEED rating system. The write up geared towards carpet but the basic idea will be the same for all materials.
