Does anybody know anything about Francis Bacon baby grand – 1930s vintage?
Answer Hi Nancy, Francis Bacon pianos were made by the Kohler and Campbell Piano Company in New York City. Most pianos made in the 1930’s were decent pianos because American workmanship was second to none and the technology to make inferior materials was not there yet. I’ve worked on Francis Bacon pianos and for the most part, they’re ok. Of course, any instrument that is 70+ years old is going to have to be evaluated on its own merits in terms of condition and quality.
