Does anybody know an easy way to remember correct fingering for all major scales on piano?
Dear carmen sandiego , Any good scales book will have the fingerings written in, however, here is what I remember from my piano days. I believe most scales have the same fingering, though, there could be a few variations. I think the best patter I ever learned, for learning the fingering, was to prac tise the ‘Formula Pattern’ for each scale – you start with your hands an octave apart, the right generally goes up two octaves, while the left goes up one then goes back down, then both hands advance toward each other. It is a fantastic scale, and you learn both hands at once – Enjoy! Hope this helps. Right hand: C Major scale (ascending) Thumb on middle C, index on D, middle finger on E – swing thumb under for F, index on G, middle on A, fourth on B, and pinkey on C. If you are planning on playing the second octave above middle C, then instead of the pinky on C, swing your thumb under to C, and repeat pattern upwards.. Right hand (descending) pinky on first C above middle C, fourth on B,
