Does anybody know a good camcorder that works with Macs ilife software and takes good quaility video?
Which older JVC camcorder? All camcorders can work with computers and their video editors, but sometimes some hardware or software is needed. MiniDV (and Digital 8) tape: You need to buy a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable. iMovie will allow DV (and HDV import). If HDV, you may need to install the Apple Intermediate Codec as a custom installl with eht system discs – it it a QuickTime component. HDD and Flash memory camcorders use USB to transfer – you probably also need to download and install StreamClip http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/vi… to translate the highly compressed MPEG2 video. If you are doing high def AVCHD, you need the current version of iMovie08 or the current version of FinalCut running on an Intel-chip based Mac. DVD based camcorders are not worth wasting money on unless you need an expensive doorstop. Analog camcorders are not easy to find anymore and are not recommended.
